Saint Adalbert / Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish is the oldest African-American, Roman-Catholic parish in the State of Ohio and the second oldest in the United States. Our educational campus consists of five academic buildings, one church, and one convent. Our community is rich with history in the Fairfax neighborhood dating back to 1873 as our school spans several decades and generations of families.
We currently have 460 students registered for the 2019 - 2020 school year and have at least two classrooms per grade level although several have three classrooms per grade level. We are pursuing our STEM certification and planning to offer a STEM Academy for students in Grades 5-8 this upcoming school year, as well as an Honors track (this position) and Accelerated / Gen. Ed. track. Approximately 10% of our students have IEPs and these students are mainstreamed into the classrooms although Intervention Specialists provide additional assistance. We have a growing convent with six Sisters working at our school although that number may continue to grow.
This position is for a self-contained, 7th Grade Honors teacher. This classroom is located in our Learning Center II, which is a large mobile classroom with air conditioning and ramp/stairs access. This class will include approximately 10-15 students of "above-average" to "accelerated" academic abilities.
