Description The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is a premier service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement the state's K-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities. The department seeks to hire a smart, experienced, hardworking and dependable Assistant Director to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities:
Provide management and leadership assistance in the operation, planning, design, development, implementation, procurement and funding for technology services for k-12 public schools.
Assist in development and management of service support and operational processes to support technology staff, education customers and other stakeholders. Assist in the general management and operation of employees including hiring, evaluations, workflow, and training and overall staff communications.
Serve as the Customer Support Manager for Microsoft Premier Support contract. Includes monthly meetings, coordination of workshops, dissemination to information to Office of Educational Technology (OET) staff, and project management for reviews/assessments. Develop and manages a staff training and support portfolio against all services and deliverables to ensure and align future supportability needs.
Develop and reviews correspondence to KDE agency offices, other state agencies, and K-12 customers. Provide technical assistance, guidance, and training to Division’s service and operations teams in the administration of policy, procedural, and regulatory issues.
Responsible for leading activities in the collection and reporting of metrics, division budget development and tracking, division procurement, and strategic planning. Represents the Division and director as necessary.
Conduct duties of Division Director in his absence or as assigned by the Division Director.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of administrative or management experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year- for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Condition Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
